If you import, manufacture, sell, refurbish, resell EEE, LIGHTING, PAPER & PACKAGING, PORTABLE BATTERIES OR LUBRICANTS & OILS under your own brand, you classify as a PRODUCER, liable for payment of EPR FEES. (This is a lifetime membership, subject to cancellation by either party.)


  • We are a Level 2 BBBEE NPC Established in 2008 to manage the establishment of a sustainable environmentally sound waste management system for the country.
  • eWASA is a One Stop Shop with Access to a team of experts and dedicated Key Account Managers per Waste Stream
  • Regular working groups on-the ground, co-creation of tailored initiatives that are best suited to each member in achieving their sustainability objectives.
  • Transparency & visibility of where EPR fees are spent and the factual data on results the investments are delivering on the ground being mindful of protecting our members IP.
  • A holistic approach to EPR to ensure that there is the necessary education, awareness, informal waste picker integration, job creation and community upliftment as spin offs to delivering EPR programs. All stakeholders in the value stream are included in our plans.

EWASA Code of Ethics

As members and stakeholders of the EPR Waste Association of South Africa (eWASA), we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and environmental responsibility in all our actions and interactions within the waste handling value chain of our registered waste streams. Our Code of Ethics serves as a guiding framework to ensure ethical conduct and sustainable practices in our operation.


  1. Pledge to comply with all laws, regulations and guidelines governing the waste handling industry as outlined in the Extended Producer Responsibility CPRI Regulation 2020.
  2. Actions will align with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) requirements to promote environmental sustainability and accountability.
  3. Dedication to minimising the environmental impact of waste from electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), lighting, paper, packaging, portable batteries, and lubricant oils is upheld, with a commitment to implement sustainable practices, promote resource efficiency and reduce waste generation throughout these products' lifecycles.
  4. Transparency and accountability in all dealings with stakeholders, including government authorities, suppliers, members, and the public are upheld.
  5. Fair competition and collaboration within the waste handling value chain of the identified product categories are promoted.
  6. Respecting the rights of other stakeholders, including competitors, adherence to ethical business practices to ensure a level playing field that drives industry innovation, efficiency and sustainability.
  7. A commitment to continuous improvement in processes and technologies is maintained, with investments in research, development, and innovation to enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance with ongoing education and training.
  8. Fulfilling social responsibilities by promoting the health, and well-being of employees, communities, and society is prioritised. This includes prioritising workforce health and safety, minimising operational impacts on local communities, and contributing to social and economic development initiatives in operating regions.
  9. That the highest standards of ethical conduct in all business activities and relationships are maintained, avoiding bribery, corruption, fraud or unethical behaviour. Treating all stakeholders with respect, fairness and dignity.

I hereby apply for membership to the EPR Waste Association South Africa (eWASA). In submitting our application, we undertake to adhere to the provisions of the eWASA Code of Ethics in all respects. We further acknowledge that a member intending to resign membership to eWASA will notify the membership controller of the eWASA of his intention to do so 1 month prior to the 30th November of the year of current membership of eWASA, and in failing to do so shall be liable for the payment of full annual subscription fees for the ensuing financial year.
